ephemeral beauty aftermath

Wow, Gallery Heist just wrapped up a ridiculous group show. I was in New York for the opening, but I can assure you that the place was nuts.

Even though I missed the show, I did have the privilege of sitting in with Julianne and Brett during some of the panel construction (I even brought them some Tecate for inspiration). They deserve all the credit in the world for going out, sourcing/stealing/finding material and building beautiful canvases. The rest was up to the artists, most of whom worked in the gallery, and they all absolutely killed it. Have a look below and then click here to download the presskit (with all finished work).

Also, if you dig, make sure to check out the Mario Wagner opening going down this Saturday night (9/4).

Tonight I’m headed to Gallery Heist to check out the Adam Flores opening. Here is a slideshow of his prep work, courtesy of Julianne Yates.

One of my favorite Brooklyn-based, but Baltimore-bred, artists was in town recently. Gaia opened his first west coast show at Gallery Heist on May 15th. Like most street art openings, it didn’t take long for some of the work to pop up around the city. Today, I tracked it down.

Sutter & Taylor

Valencia (between 23rd & 24th)

O’Farrell & Jones

I definitely missed one of the locations, but I was pumped that these two were still up and in good condition. The show came down earlier this week, but I’m hopeful that his success in the bay area will open the door to some more NYC talent.

See the rest of my photos here, including more from Blek le Rat, Hush and Hugh Leeman.
