Hello. My name is Joe, but my friends call me JJ. They do this because in college I wanted a nickname so badly that I decided to give myself one. It’s stuck because my friends love telling the story to make fun of me. I would argue that self-appointed nicknames are awesome.

I live in San Francisco and study plannerly things at the Academy of Art University. I also lead the Bay Area Graffiti Photostroll and a small coffee blog called Hoodmapped.

Before moving out west I lived in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and worked for BBDO. Before that I lived in Manhattan and worked for TBWA\Chiat\Day. And before that I was an inside linebacker and thespian at St. Lawrence University in upstate New York.

Over the last few years I’ve developed a passion for photography, bicycles and street art. I have a growing sneaker collection and my favorite music group is Wu-Tang. I drink cheap beer, but I really like Sierra Nevada, Brooklyn Lager and Magic Hat. I am unhealthily obsessed with burritos. I play a lot of foursquare. I enjoy reading the randomness I’ve downloaded to my kindle, and magazines like monocle and good. Also, the New York Rangers are the best team in pro sports.
